Elvin Bishop is an acclaimed American blues and rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist renowned for his distinctive slide guitar work, down-home charm, and infectious sense of humor. Born in California and raised in Oklahoma, Bishop first gained national prominence in the 1960s as a founding member and lead guitarist of the groundbreaking Paul Butterfield Blues Band, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. Striking out on a successful solo career, he achieved his biggest commercial milestone in 1976 with the soulful, number-three Billboard hit “Fooled Around and Fell in Love,” featuring Mickey Thomas on lead vocals. Beloved for his energetic live shows and a musical style that seamlessly blends deep Chicago blues with rock, country, and zydeco, Bishop was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2016 and continues to record and tour, remaining a vibrant, celebrated force in American roots music.
